How low can you go? Whitney Houston’s lifeless body covers National Enquirer

Running an image of Whitney Houston’s lifeless body on the cover is pretty par for the course for The National Enquirer, but it’s still a bit much.

On this week’s cover of the infamous tabloid, a photo of the singer lying in her casket accompanies the headline, “THE LAST PHOTO.” It’s not exactly how Houston’s family wanted the public to remember the singer, since they took precautions to ensure that the viewing of her body was a private affair.

This isn’t exactly a new low for the tabloid. The Enquirer ran a similar photo and headline when Elvis Presley died of a drug overdose in 1977:

It almost makes you question how the tabloid was in the running for a Pulitzer Prize just two years ago. Almost.
