The Los Angeles Kings managed to eke out a victory against defending Stanley Cup Champions Chicago Blackhawks in a tense overtime during Game 7 of the series.

Alec Martinez finally scored a goal after almost six minutes of overtime, beating the Blackhawks 5-4 in the Kings’ third game 7 during this tournament. Kings coach Darryl Sutter told ESPN, “You need everybody when you get to Game 7. You’re not into the individual part of it. There’s always guys that score big goals, make big plays. But you need everybody in your lineup.”

The Blackhawks didn’t hide their disappointment. Coach Joel Quenneville said, “I’ve lost some tough games but nothing like tonight.” Blackhawks center Jonathan Toews echoed the sentiment, saying, “This was a tough way to go down. This one’s going to sting for a while.”

The Kings will go on to face the New York Rangers on Wednesday night in LA. Quenneville has a dire warning for the Rangers though, saying, “They find a way, L.A., they’re never out of a hockey game, they’re never out of a series. They’re dangerous.”
