Pressure is mounting  for Republicans to find House Speaker [crscore]John Boehner[/crscore]’s replacement, and as lawmakers return to the Capitol Tuesday after a week-long recess, all eyes are on Wisconsin Republican [crscore]Paul Ryan[/crscore].

While the chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee has repeatedly stated he has no interest in the position, CBS reports the congressman may have changed his tune.

After Majority Leader [crscore]Kevin McCarthy[/crscore] unexpectedly dropped out of the race, leadership has been scurrying to find a viable option — going as far as postponing the election. Boehner has reportedly been courting the congressman in hopes he may be the man capable of uniting the divided party.

According to CBS, Ryan may be weighing his options, but he doesn’t plan on heavily campaigning for the job.

“He’s not going to go to the Freedom Caucus and say, ‘I’ll do this and this’…otherwise you’ve sold yourself to them from the very beginning, and set yourself up for failure,” the source told the network. “He still really, really does not want to do this. He has his dream job. If he’s speaker, his whole career path changes. He’s not going to make concessions to get a job he didn’t want in the first place.”

Ryan’s supporters think he has the conservative background to satisfy the House Freedom Caucus, the group of around 40 members that called for Boehner to step down.

Currently Utah’s [crscore]Daniel Chaffetz[/crscore] and Florida’s [crscore]Daniel Webster[/crscore] are running for speaker.
