New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie denies that being dropped from Fox Business Network’s main debate to their undercard debate has hurt his campaign fundraising and instead claims donations have increased.

Asked by “Fox News Sunday” host Chris Wallace if being dropped from the main stage for Tuesday’s debate has hurt his fundraising, Christie said, “it actually hasn’t, in fact it’s going to head the opposite direction.” (RELATED: Fox Business Network Debate Lineup Set, Main Stage Cut To Eight Candidates)

“There are a lot of people out there who disagree with what Fox did, and we’ve been getting more donations in the last week then we got the week before because people feel like we’re getting a raw deal,” he explained.

“It hasn’t hurt the donations at all. In fact, incredibly — cause I thought what you did — it’s actually worked the opposite,” Christie said. “There’s a lot of people out there who are looking to level the playing field — so keep doing it, send it in.”

Christie later downplayed his low poll numbers saying, “what really matters is what’s happening in New Hampshire and Iowa” and that national polls can be misleading.
