A Georgia man from Douglasville was arrested and charged with bestiality Friday for engaging in inappropriate relations with a goat, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.

Paulding County Sheriff’s deputies say they responded to reports of indecent exposure by neighbors of Freddie Wadsworth, who claim they saw him performing a sex act with a goat.

Deputies concluded Wadsworth was responsible for the incident and they arrested and booked him in the Paulding County Jail.

Most states have measures that criminalize sexual acts between humans and animals. However, according to a 2016 research report from the Michigan State University College of Law: “Hawaii, Kentucky, Nevada, New Mexico, Ohio, Texas, Vermont, West Virginia and Wyoming, and the District of Columbia lack such laws.”

Additionally, the states where there are laws, the statutes vary in degree of how the laws are enforced, who investigates the cases and whether the defendant should register as a sex offender.

Bestiality “is the single greatest predictor of people who will molest children,” Detective Jeremy Hoffman, of the Fairfax County, Va., Sheriff’s Office, told Bloomberg BNA. the FBI announced an effort earlier in the year to start looking closer at animal cruelty crimes, which would include bestiality.
