Ezekiel Elliot will likely play in week 2 as it has been a week to week question since his suspension is still up in the air. As the season goes on, however, things could get a little more complicated – if you didn’t think that already.

NFL spokesperson Joe Lockhart said he would think the running back will play on Sunday, but it is not likely he will continue to play during the season.

According to CBS Sports, Lockhart said, “It is possible. But I don’t know that I would go so far as to say likely.”

If the NFL is able to win this battle it is likely Elliot will serve his suspension at the worst possible time for the Cowboys. It would take place right around the time the Cowboys get into the playoffs.

An Elliot suspension is not ideal at all, but one that comes during the time of a Super Bowl run could not come at a worse time for the team. It will most likely be awhile before anything is set and stone, so Cowboys fans, don’t panic.
