The American public is “frustrated” with the Senate Intelligence Committee’s investigation into alleged Russian election interference, according to White House press secretary Sarah Sanders.
President Donald Trump tweeted Thursday, “Why Isn’t the Senate Intel Committee looking into the Fake News Networks in OUR country to see why so much of our news is just made up-FAKE!”
The tweet came a day after a press conference held the the leaders of the committee. Republican North Carolina Sen. Richard Burr, the chairman of the committee, revealed the extent of the work behind the investigation saying that him, colleagues, and staffers have interviewed more than 100 people and reviewed more than 100,000 documents.
“The committee continues to look into all evidence to see if there was any hint of collusion,” Burr said.
The Daily Caller asked Sanders if the president is frustrated with the seemingly indefinite length of the investigation, and she replied, “I think more important than the president being frustrated, I think the American people are frustrated.”
“It’s literally found zero evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. I think that the American people would like them to focus on some other things,” Sanders continued. “I know that we certainly have said this all along and we’re glad that as they continue this process they’re coming to the same conclusion.”
