The hero police officer Ryan Nash, who managed to wound NYC terrorist Sayfullo Saipov said authorities were simply doing their jobs as they prevented more deaths during Tuesday’s attack.

Nash was on routine patrol near the disturbance in Lower Manhattan, when he responded to reports of the unhinged terror suspect, according to The New York Post.

“I feel we were just doing our job like thousands of officers do every day,” he said. “I understand the importance of yesterday’s events and the role we played and I am grateful for the recognition we have received.”

A law enforcement official described Nash’s shooting of Saipov as having “lit him up,”and credited the officer with saving lives and preventing further violence.

At least eight people were killed when Saipov drove a Home Depot rental truck onto a bike path and then jumped out holding fake firearms, shouting “Allahu Akbar.” The FBI took over the investigation and deemed the incident an act of terror.
