Former president Bill Clinton made a disturbing statement about sexual consent in a Friday interview with PBS.

Clinton has gone on a media tour to promote his new book, “The President Is Missing,” but has found himself ensnared in questions about his Oval Office affair with then-intern Monica Lewinsky.

During the PBS Newshour interview, Judy Woodruff noted that Democratic Senator Al Franken had been driven from office after a groping scandal.

“I assume you think that what happened with you was more serious than what happened with Senator — former Senator Al Franken,” she said. “So, norms have changed. Do you think that’s a good thing?”

“I think it’s a good thing that we should all have higher standards,” Clinton said. “I think the norms have really changed in terms of, what you can do to somebody against their will, how much you can crowd their space, make them miserable at work.”

Clinton also went on to defend Franken during the interview.
