Actor Dean Cain, famous for playing Superman in the mid-90s series “Lois and Clark,” crossed the thin blue line on Tuesday. He was sworn in as a reserve officer with the Saint Anthony Police Department in Idaho.
Cain told The Daily Caller prior to swearing in that he had always felt a kind of kinship with military and first responders, and that he was proud to be joining them to do his part. “I have always been a man of action,” he said, and on Tuesday, he stepped up and proved it.

Cain also told TheDC that his own experiences as a father would be invaluable to his new position — he will be joining fellow actor Erik Estrada (of “CHiPs” fame) in his “All About Kids” initiative. “All About Kids” focuses on issues that primarily face children and teens, such as online bullying and predation, and works to help kids handle such problems effectively.
Following his oath, Cain was all smiles as he shook hands with the other officers present. “Outstanding!” he cheered. After all, in his own words, he had just joined the ranks of real heroes.
He said, “Real heroes don’t wear capes. Real Superheroes wear uniforms and badges and stethoscopes! Real superheroes are members of our military, law enforcement, and first responders.”
