Five Things To Do While Standing On The Metro

You’re on the Metro, and you’re bored.

It’s not one of the nice metro cars, either. The lights are orange and gross. The floor is stained with God-knows-what. Worst of all, you can’t shake the feeling that you and the other passengers are like rats in some weird science experiment. Everybody keeps their heads down. They’re looking at their phones, the floor or nothing in particular. Nobody talks to anybody — which is fine with you. You don’t really feel like making friends this early in the morning. But you’re all standing so close to each other that at some point the lack of conversation feels strange. You’re elbow is right in this guys face; shouldn’t you at least apologize?

It seems like some people are capable of powering off for the duration of their ride. Those are the people who look like zombies. You don’t really want to be like them. So what do you do?
