The Jewish Democratic Council of America allegedly decided on Wednesday not to support Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, following comments she has made related to Israel and Palestine.

Ocasio-Cortez tweeted her support for Palestinians who were harmed during unrest at the Gaza border back in May. She said that there was “no justification” for Israel’s actions at the border, where dozens of protesters — most linked to Hamas — were killed.

The Democratic socialist won the Democratic primary for the 14th district of New York, defeating the incumbent, Rep. Joe Crowley. Crowley had served in the House of Representatives since being elected in 1999.

Additionally, Thomas Lopez-Pierre — identified as a supporter of Ocasio-Cortez — has been accused in the past of being an anti-Semite and racist. While running for office in 2017, Lopez-Pierre specifically campaigned on a platform of “protecting tenants from greedy Jewish landlords.” (RELATED: SOCIALIST DARLING CAUGHT CELEBRATING, CAMPAIGNING WITH KNOWN ANTI-SEMITE AND RACIST)

In an interview with The Intercept, Ocasio-Cortez compared the violent Hamas protesters on Gaza border to the Ferguson protesters or to teachers on strike throughout the U.S.

The JDCA has not given a comment at this time.
