The New York City Police Department is investigating two police officers who did not extend help to a teenager who was stabbed repeatedly in a gang related incident and later died, according to a New York Post report Friday.
The 15-year-old boy, Lesandro “Junior” Guzman-Feliz, was allegedly hunted down by members of the gang Trinitarios at a bodego in the Bronx and dragged from the store into the street on June 20. Police believe the gang mistook him for another teen and proceeded to stab him repeatedly in the neck, legs, torso and other parts of his body, with a machete and other large knives. Guzman-Feliz, who had more than 15 stab wounds from the eight assailants, then stumbled to a nearby St. Barnabas Hospital, where he collapsed on the sidewalk and died, according to video footage obtained by the New York Post. Two police officers who were on the scene apparently watched as other civilians fought to stop Guzman-Feliz from bleeding out futilely using napkins, according to cell phone recordings the Post obtained.
“Officers responding to a different call were flagged down by civilians and directed to the victim, and an ambulance arrived just over one minute later,” NYPD Sgt. Jessica McRorie told The Daily Caller News Foundation on Friday.
“The Bronx Borough command is reviewing the response. There have been no complaints filed regarding the response to the incident, and there is no IAB investigation,” McRorie added.
