President Donald Trump attacked special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation as illegal in a recent interview with Bloomberg News.

“I view it as an illegal investigation,” Trump said of the investigation, adding, “You read the great scholars, the great legal — there should have never been a special counsel. It shouldn’t have been set up.”

“Between all of the conflicts, and … all of the reasoning that turned out to be wrong — all of the corruption, all of the statements where Comey said in Congress that he did things, and he leaked — and he did — to get a special counsel and various other things …” Trump continued.

The president attacked Mueller after conveying dismay about his Attorney General Jeff Session’s recusal from any investigation involving the probe: “I just would love to have him do a great job. And I’d love to have him look at the other side,” Trump said of Sessions.

The president pointed at alleged FBI and DOJ bias in the investigation of his campaign, the conduct of James Comey, Bruce Ohr, along with other grievances.

Trump continued that he would not comment on whether he would comply with a subpoena from Mueller’s team.
