The Hill referred to David Brock, the founder of Media Matters, as a “former conservative” in a Monday headline about Judge Brett Kavanaugh.

“Kavanaugh is not fit for court, says former conservative David Brock,” HILLTV wrote in a tweet.

Brock last identified as a conservative in the late 1990s and recanted much of what he purported to believe while working as a right-wing journalist.

In 2004, Brock founded Media Matters for America, a progressive organization dedicated to taking down conservative media personalities. Media Matters has engaged in targeted campaigns against the advertisers of Fox News’ Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham and more. (RELATED: David Hogg And Media Matters Team Up For Laura Ingraham Boycott)

The Hill’s article talks about Brock’s attacks on Kavanaugh, noting Brock “said he got to know Kavanaugh personally and professionally through conservative circles in Washington.”

The lead of the article identifies Brock as a “conservative turned Democratic strategist.”
