Alyssa Milano explained that as a survivor of sexual assault, it is important for her to “be able to support” Christine Blasey Ford at her testimony on Capitol Hill Thursday.
“You know, it’s important for me. It’s important for me to be here. It took me a very long time as a survivor and come to terms and be public with my own abuse and assault,” the 45-year-old actress told reporters Thursday at the end of the first part of the hearing for Supreme Court justice nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

“And I know how hard it is, and I know what she’s had to go through to be here and present and answer those questions,” she added. “And I think a lot of women throughout the country and the world understand the idea of not wanting to talk about it.”

Milano continued, “Of wanting it to go away. Not wanting to deal with it. And putting it out of our heads and minds.”
“So it was important for me to be able to support her, and to support survivors everywhere,” the “Charmed” star explained.
When pressed further about hearing Kavanaugh’s testimony, she explained that she had doubts about what kind of “honesty” she was going to hear from the nominee.
“I’m hoping to hear honesty, but I don’t know if that’s what we’re gonna get,” the actress shared.
