A surveillance video obtained by CNN purports to show a man believed to be one of the 15 Saudi agents who allegedly murdered dissident journalist Jamal Khashoggi entering the Saudi consulate in one outfit, and leaving in what appeared to be Khashoggi’s clothes.

CNN received the video that Turkish officials are using in their investigation, and it shows a man leaving through the back of the consulate in Istanbul, Turkey, where Khashoggi was last seen in what could be the same clothes Khashoggi was wearing, a fake beard and glasses.

Only his shoes looked different.

A senior Turkish official told CNN they believe this man, identified as Mustafa al-Madani, was meant to act as a “body double” to make it appear as if Khashoggi left the consulate.

As the surveillance video goes on, the man is seen walking through town with an accomplice to Istanbul’s Blue Mosque just a few hours later, according to Turkey’s case.

At 11:03 a.m. local time, al-Madani is seen entering the consulate in a plaid shirt and jeans, according to the video. About two hours later, Khashoggi enters the consulate, where he was then killed in what the Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir is calling a rogue operation and a “tremendous mistake.”

The man identified as Al-Madani and his accomplice are seen on multiple surveillance videos in town taking a taxi to a mosque, and the accomplice is carrying a plastic bag when they enter a bathroom.

When the two exit the bathroom, al-Madani is back in his own clothes.

“We are determined to uncover every stone. We are determined to find out all the facts. And we are determined to punish those who are responsible for this murder,” the foreign minister said in an interview with Fox News.

The Turkish official in contact with CNN told the outlet that they believe al-Madani was chosen to act as a Khashoggi’s body double because he is a similar height, age and build.

“You don’t need a body double for a rendition or an interrogation,” the official said, questioning Saudi Arabia’s shifting story. “Our assessment has not changed since October 6. This was a premeditated murder and the body was moved out of the consulate.”

Khashoggi’s fiancee, Hatice Cengiz, said she waited for Khashoggi outside the consulate on Oct. 2, but he never came out.

“Khashoggi’s clothes were probably still warm when Madani put them on,” the Turkish official said.
