President Donald Trump trolled Democratic lawmakers during the annual pardoning event for turkeys ahead of Thanksgiving, in a Tuesday ceremony in the White House Rose Garden.

“I am pleased to announce that today’s lucky bird and guest of honor is named Peas along with his alternate named Carrots,” Trump announced, referencing a “free and fair” election for the pardon that was conducted on the White House’s official Twitter account.

“This was a fair election. Unfortunately, Carrots refused to concede and demanded a recount and we are still fighting with Carrots,” Trump joked during his speech. “We have come to a conclusion: Carrots, I’m sorry to tell you the result did not change. Too bad for Carrots.”

Trump referenced the recent controversy surrounding recount elections in the states of Florida and Georgia, where Democratic candidates originally refused to concede. These included Democratic candidate for governor Andrew Gillum, defeated Sen. Bill Nelson, and Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams.

The president took another shot at a widely discussed plan from House Democrats to subpoena the Trump administration in January when they officially take power in the House of Representatives. The White House and other Republican officials expect House Democrats will use the subpoena power of their investigatory committee as a method of harassment.

Trump has warned Democrats that if they explore the strategy of “presidential harassment” that he will in turn use the subpoena power of the executive branch.

“I think we’ll do very well if they want to play the presidential harassment game. If they play the presidential harassment game I don’t think anything’s going to be done ’cause why would I do that, okay?” he told The Daily Caller in an exclusive Oval Office interview Wednesday. “If they want to get things done I think it will be fantastic, I think we can get a lot done.”
