The hot button issue, which quickly migrated from San Francisco to Washington, seems to keep mushroom clouding into more drama. According to A.J. Perez of USA Today, the Philadelphia Eagles were the only team in the NFL to call the Tampa Police Department regarding Foster’s arrest.
It’s not clear what the Eagles learned from their discussion, but it may indicate that the allegations were severe enough for the Super Bowl LII champs to pass him up. Given their record this season, the Eagles have a higher waiver claim than the Redskins and could have potentially claimed Foster off waivers first if they chose to do so.
Which means the Eagles either heard enough to scare them away, or they’re secure enough with the talent on their roster that they didn’t need to get embroiled in a potential scandal.
Either way, the Redskins may be learning the hard way that they treaded into some muddy waters.
