Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is apparently keeping watch on recently released, now-former Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt.
Hunt is now on the market after a video was released that appeared to show him getting physical with a young woman. You’d think that’d be enough for him to not play for a very long time and have no teams display interest. Well, you’d be wrong.
Jones made an appearance on 105.3 The Fan Tuesday and said, “Yes, keeping a very close eye, and have a very keen interest in how this plays out. It’s a challenging area of what we’re about … everyone has zero tolerance for domestic abuse.”

Yeah, this is not a great look for Jones. I love how he hedges to let people know they don’t tolerate violence against women, but at the same time they’re keeping an “eye” on what Hunt is up to. Why would Jones want to be the man who signs hunt? The Cowboys are the most valuable franchise in sports. It’s not like they’re the Jacksonville Jaguars and nobody really cares what they’re up to. They’re arguably the most recognizable sports brand in the world.

Hunt is now officially a free agent, and any team can sign him to whatever kind of deal they want while he remains on the commissioner’s exempt list. I just don’t understand why any organization would ink him to a deal.
Then again, some teams care more about winning than anything else. If Jones knows what’s best for him from a PR standpoint, he won’t even consider bringing Hunt into the fold.
He absolutely doesn’t want all the negative attention and press that is bound to happen. That is a disaster just waiting to unfold.
