President Donald Trump tweeted early Monday morning that any other president would be praised for eliminating ISIS and bringing troops back home from overseas, but that he faces criticism for doing exactly that.

He tweeted, “If anybody but Donald Trump did what I did in Syria, which was an ISIS loaded mess when I became President, they would be a national hero. ISIS is mostly gone, we’re slowly sending our troops back home to be with their families, while at the same time fighting ISIS remnants……” (RELATED: Trump: ‘Mission Accomplished’ In Syria Strikes)

The president’s thought continued into a second tweet which read, “…I campaigned on getting out of Syria and other places. Now when I start getting out the Fake News Media, or some failed Generals who were unable to do the job before I arrived, like to complain about me & my tactics, which are working. Just doing what I said I was going to do!”

Trump announced less than two weeks ago that he intended to withdraw the troops that are currently in Syria. He said, “We have won against ISIS … we have beaten them and we’ve beaten them badly and now it’s time for our troops to come back home.” (RELATED: Trump Explains His Decision To Withdraw From Syria)

A little while after the president’s Monday tweets on withdrawing the troops, he followed up by writing, “I am the only person in America who could say that, ‘I’m bringing our great troops back home, with victory,’ and get BAD press. It is Fake News and Pundits who have FAILED for years that are doing the complaining. If I stayed in Endless Wars forever, they would still be unhappy!”

The president wanted to withdraw troops from Syria for a while, saying in April, “I want to get out” at a press conference, adding that “I want to bring our troops back home.”

Trump also tweeted Monday about the wall that he wants to build along the southern border.
