The Golden Globes television ratings from Sunday night weren’t overly pretty.
The Hollywood Reporter reported the following:
NBC’s broadcast — which had an NFL playoff game as a lead-in — posted a 12.7 household rating in metered markets Sunday. That’s down 4.5 percent from the preliminary 13.3 for the 2018 Globes; last year’s ceremony ended up falling 5 percent in viewers and 11 percent in adults 18-49 (5.6 to 5.0) vs. 2017.
The decline was smaller than that of several other recent awards shows: The 2018 Oscars, Grammys and Emmys all fell by at least 10 percent.
For those who might not understand how TV ratings work, the 12.7 rating means that roughly 12.7 percent of households with a television watched.
Personally, I can’t say that I’m too surprised the ratings dropped. They’ve been falling for a long time when it comes to award shows. It turns out people don’t like watching multi-millionaires complain about the state of America.
The only reason I ever even consider tuning in is to see some smoke show actresses on the red carpet. Other than that, I’m going to be a hard pass. (SLIDESHOW: These Women On Instagram Hate Wearing Clothes)

The show could get a lot better if it focused on entertainment we actually enjoy like “Westworld.” Instead, it chooses to promote shows that most people don’t care about.
That’s a problem when it comes to generating viewers. That’s just a fact. People don’t want to watch award shows if their television choices get next to no attention.
I can’t wait to see how bad the numbers are for the Oscars! There won’t be any NFL lead for that show, which means the numbers will likely be even lower.
You just hate to see it!
