The hit CBS show “Criminal Minds” is coming to an end.

The Hollywood Reporter reported the following details late Thursday:

The network has renewed the cop drama, a relatively reliable performer for CBS, for a 15th and final season. The upcoming season will be 10 episodes long and will be shot on the heels of the current season.

By the time it wraps, Criminal Minds will have completed 325 episodes, making it one of the longest running TV dramas. The crime series, which is show-run by executive producer Erica Messer, follows an elite team of FBI profilers who analyze the country’s most twisted criminal minds, attempting to anticipate their next moves before they strike again.

There aren’t many shows at all that get to enjoy a 15-season run on television. That’s some rarified air “Criminal Minds” has found itself in.

I used to watch this show all the time when it came out. I couldn’t get enough when Mandy Patinkin and Thomas Gibson were both in the show. It was clear that CBS had a major hit on its hands. (RELATED: A Stunning Amount Of People Watched The Latest ‘SEAL Team‘ Episode)

Once Patinkin left the show, I kind of lost interest. However, most people clearly kept watching because it lasted another decade.

“Criminal Minds” was one the forefront of the whole modern cop drama and was pretty much a whitewashed version of “True Detective.”

In fact, I’d be willing to bet that the commercial success of the CBS show gave HBO a lot of confidence that the dark crime series “True Detective” would find a very reliable audience.

Perhaps someday I’ll find time to watch all the seasons I’ve missed. I know a lot of people my parents’ age still enjoy the show to this day. Seems like something that might be worth binging.

Shoutout to CBS and everybody involved with the show for all the incredible success. That’s a run they can all be proud of.
