On today’s edition of The Daily Daily Caller Podcast, we cover a lot of ground. The “big” New York Times story about the FBI opening an investigation into the president made a splash when it broke Friday, but it’s really more of a splat. Democrats leave Washington D.C. for a weekend of partying in Puerto Rico with lobbyists while claiming to be upset on behalf of furloughed government employees. The Sunday shows were full of talk about the shutdown and a wall, but no deal. What constitutes “meat” is in the news, and so is the latest children’s song that is driving parents nuts. We cover it all.

Listen to the show:

The New York Times thought they had a big story — the FBI launched an investigation into whether or not the president of the United States is an agent of a hostile foreign government within days of the firing of former FBI Director James Comey. But this surprised exactly no one. The FBI was littered with people in its upper echelon who hated Donald Trump and had been investigating people associated with the Trump campaign since the beginning. That they’d take the opportunity to start sniffing around the president himself is not shocking. That the Times story was such a big deal, even though they mention there is no evidence of anything illegal or untoward in paragraph 9 of the story, is a testament to the deep-rooted hatred of the president from both the former leadership of the agency and the media.

While the government shutdown became the longest in history, the House of Representatives adjourned for the weekend and dozens of Democrats headed to Puerto Rico for a free weekend of partying with more than 100 lobbyists. It’s good work if you can get it.

The latest on the shutdown is cracks on both sides of the debate. Many Democrats are starting to admit there is a need for some kind of barrier on the border, and some Republicans are calling for the government to be reopened without funding for a wall. There’s a very good reason for the president to not cave and we lay it out on the show today.

What is “meat”? The answer seems obvious, but it’s not. Nebraska is looking to regulate what can be called meat as some companies try to label things like tofu and ground insects as meat. Not kidding.

If you have young kids, you know the song “Baby Shark.” With more than 2.1 billion views on YouTube, this children’s song has made the Billboard charts. The thing is, it’s a catchy song. But your kids will drive you crazy with it.
