Former Democratic Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill announced Tuesday that she would be taking a job with NBC and MSNBC as a political analyst.

McCaskill tweeted a photo of the NBC studio early in the morning, along with the caption, “Reporting for work. First day of my new gig.”

McCaskill appeared just hours later on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” where host Mika Brzezinski announced that the ousted Missouri senator would be officially joining the NBC and MSNBC family. (RELATED: Missouri Goes Red: McCaskill Loses Re-Election Bid To Josh Hawley)

“I have come to the other side,” McCaskill laughed, adding, “I’ve always said in my offices we can be smart and have a great work ethic and do good work, but if we have fun, we’ll do great work. Hopefully that’s what this will be about.”

McCaskill also released an official statement regarding the move:

I’m looking forward to bringing my experience from the Senate, hard fought campaigns, and Midwest common sense to the coverage of breaking political events. And, as always, I won’t hold back.

Immediately following the announcement, the  hosts of “Morning Joe” tossed McCaskill a bit of a “softball” question, asking her to handicap the upcoming Kansas City Chiefs game against the New England Patriots.
