Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson made it clear during a recent press conference that Carson Wentz will be the team’s quarterback going forward.

Pederson told the media the following Tuesday afternoon, according to ESPN:

Carson Wentz is the quarterback going forward. And in Nick’s case, listen, we’d love to have everybody back throughout the roster, but as I’ve said many, many times, it’s not about one guy, it’s about the team, and we’re going to do what’s best for the team.

I guess that puts an end to the whole speculation about whether or not it’d be Nick Foles or Wentz under center come week one of the 2019 season.

Look, you might not love the decision to ride with Wentz, but it’s the smart one. The Eagles owe Foles $20 million next season, Wentz is younger and he’s a hell of a lot cheaper at this point. (RELATED: Eagles Fans Freak Out Over Tweet About Carson Wentz. Here Are The Best Reactions)

Choosing the former North Dakota State star is really a no-brainer.

The good news for Foles is that plenty of teams would love to have him on their rosters. The quarterback market in the NFL is a joke.

Anybody with a pulse capable of throwing a ball more than 15 yards will be able to stick around in the league, and Foles is a hell of a lot better than that.

The Eagles are getting the younger and better overall quarterback in Wentz and Foles is about to go make some serious money on the open market.

Everybody wins in this situation. It’s pretty simple, even if some fans don’t love it.
