Rex Ryan is being considered for a coaching job with the Kansas City Chiefs.

According to a report by ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, Ryan may be up for a gig as the Chiefs’ newest defensive coordinator. (RELATED: Shirtless Rex Ryan Gets His Tattoo Changed To Bills Colors)

“Here’s a name to watch for the now vacant Chiefs’ D.C. job, per sources: former Jets and Bills’ HC and current ESPN analyst Rex Ryan, who has been approached about other DC openings in recent seasons,” Schefter wrote.

As it stands now, the D.C. position is wide open after the Chiefs fired their former coordinator, Bob Sutton, on Tuesday. The firing comes just two days after the Chiefs lost 31-37 in the AFC Championship game to the Patriots.

“Bob is a good football coach and a great person,” Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said in a statement. “He played an integral role in the success of our team over the last six seasons. I’ve said before that change can be a good thing, for both parties, and I believe that is the case here for the Chiefs and Bob. This was not an easy decision, but one I feel is in the best interest of the Kansas City Chiefs moving forward.”
