Will The Carolina Panthers Sign Colin Kaepernick?

Colin Kaepernick might actually return to the NFL.

Bleacher Report was floating some bold free-agency theories, including their own about Kaepernick and the Panthers. And it makes more sense than you might think.

They wrote the following:

New owner David Tepper took a chance on Reid because he’s a good player and Carolina needed a safety. Kaepernick is undoubtedly a good player, too, and now it’s beginning to look as though Tepper’s team may need a quarterback.

Cam Newton‘s injured throwing shoulder continues to be concerning, and earlier this month Tepper wouldn’t rule out the possibility that Newton could pull an Andrew Luck and take a season off to heal.

With that in mind, why wouldn’t the Panthers bring Kaepernick on board alongside Reid? Reid has already served as a guinea pig, and it’s possible the upside will outweigh the downside — especially if Newton’s bad shoulder continues to hold him back.

This is interesting, especially when you consider the fact the Panthers did sign national anthem protester Eric Reid.

Again, Cam Newton isn’t 100-percent healthy and could miss the entire season. We know the Panthers don’t mind signing national anthem protesters, and the quarterback market in the NFL isn’t exactly an embarrassment of riches.(RELATED: Carolina Panthers Quarterback Cam Newton Has Shoulder Surgery)

Will there be enough forces that combine that put Kaep in a Carolina uniform? I wouldn’t rule it out entirely.

You can prepare for the league to explode, however, if the Panthers actually do revive his career. People are going to lose their mind.

They are going to riot if Kaepernick steps onto an NFL field again. I can’t stand the former 49ers quarterback. I think he’s a disgrace to the sport I love.

At the same time, I love chaos, and the leader of the national anthem protests getting back into the league would be amazing to watch.

Burn, baby, burn! That’s what I’ll be chanting if this actually goes down. Will it? Probably not, but it’s still fun to ponder.
