Seems like Colin Cowherd is in complete agreement with me when it comes to the Lakers and Anthony Davis.

Davis wants to get moved out of New Orleans, and the Lakers look like his prime destination. In order for that to happen, the Pelicans reportedly want a fortune in return. (RELATED: Pelicans Star Anthony Davis Fined $50,000 For Public Trade Demand)

Cowherd said the following Tuesday:

The Lakers have worked hard to draft and develop this young core of players. They’re just not great players, but Lonzo Ball has talent. I’m going to fight to keep him. If I have to give him away to get AD, I would but he’s got value somewhere … this is a business, folks. You don’t give everything away for anybody.

You can watch his full comments below.

Well, those sure are some interesting comments. They’re similar to when I wrote:

That seems like a lot to give up for Davis. The Lakers would be betting their entire future on Davis. By getting rid of Kuzma, Lonzo and two first round picks, Los Angeles would be royally screwed if something ever happened to Davis.

The future of the franchise would be gone if the star center blew out his knee. Of all the guys on that list the Pelicans want, Lonzo should be a non-starter. He’s going to only get better and he could potentially become an all-time great passer in the league.

He’s not exactly saying the same thing as I did, but it’s pretty damn close. The wild thing is that as far as I can tell, Cowherd and myself are the only national media members pointing out this obvious fact.

You can’t sell the whole farm for one guy. There’s just way too much risk, and there’s not much to help hedge against a disastrous injury.

I really do not like the idea of the Lakers giving up Lonzo. I don’t like it one bit. I honestly think it’s a terrible idea.

If you can get Davis for something that doesn’t include Lonzo, then the Lakers should pursue it. Otherwise, I’m not interested.
