Lindsey Vonn Hints At What’s Next For Her After Retiring From Her Ski Racing Career

Now that she’s officially retired from her ski racing career, Lindsey Vonn said one of the things she’s thinking about includes having kids.

“I’ve been doing this for 20 years, and to wake up and suddenly not have that is really weird,” the 34-year-old Olympic gold medalist shared during her appearance on “The Today Show” Thursday. “I have not adapted at all. “It’s hard,” she added. “It’s been my whole life since I was two-and-a-half [years old]. and I hope that I’ve done something in my career that’s more meaningful than 82 wins. I hope that the mountains remember me. I definitely know that the fences will.”

Vonn continued, “It’s been an amazing ride, and I couldn’t be more thankful. I truly have loved ski racing my entire life, and I’ve been lucky enough to do it for so long and, unfortunately, my body gave out, but my passion for skiing will always remain.”

“I can’t wait to go skiing with my kids one day,” Vonn explained, which prompted the host to ask if kids are next for her and boyfriend hockey star P.K. Subban.

“We have to plan it out, but I mean I’m 34, so we’re thinking about it,” the Alpine skier shared.

“He celebrates my career as much as I do,” she said of her boyfriend, “and he’s such a great athlete himself that it means so much coming from him.”

It all comes on the heels of Vonn officially announcing her retirement from the sport earlier this month. She later got a bronze in the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Are, Sweden. It would be her last race.

During her career she won 82 world cup wins, just five shy of breaking World Cup racing legend Ingemar Stenmark’s all-time record of 86 wins. She also has three Olympic medals, one gold and two bronze.
