The Philadelphia Eagles may have proposed the dumbest rule change in the history of football.

Just how stupid are we talking here? They thought it would be a good idea to make the Lions and Cowboys play on the road sometimes during Thanksgiving. (RELATED: Tight End Jesse James Signs With The Detroit Lions For $25 Million)

ProFootballTalk reported the following Thursday on the proposal, which was eventually withdrawn:

For decades, Detroit and Dallas have hosted Thanksgiving games each year. The Eagles attempted to change that, but they later withdrew their proposal.

The league confirmed today that the Eagles submitted a proposal for a change in the league resolutions that would have seen the Lions and Cowboys continue to play on Thanksgiving each year, but to play on the road every other year.

Here’s a live look at my reaction to this nonsense:

Are you kidding me? How dumb are the Philadelphia Eagles for even thinking this was a good idea? The only thing — and I do truly mean the only thing — the Lions have going for them is the Thanksgiving tradition.

There’s a better chance you pry my guns from my cold dead hands than there is you ever force the Lions to play a road game on our turkey day. It’s never going to happen.

Thanksgiving in Detroit is our one bright spot of the whole year. Win or lose, the entire nation is locked in on the Lions.

In what fantasyland would we ever want to change that? What cruelty would it be to take something away from us after we’ve already suffered for decades?

We have nothing left to give!

I will fight a million different wars on a million different fronts before I ever watch my Lions play a road game on Thanksgiving. Better to die on your feet than live on your knees, which is exactly what accepting road games would be.
