It sounds like Zion Williamson is about to be an insanely wealthy young man.

The Duke freshman phenom is likely headed to the NBA, and there is going to be a ton of money on the table for him. It could all start with a massive deal with an apparel company. (RELATED: Duke Loses To Michigan State In The Elite 8)

Famous shoe executive Sonny Vaccaro told ESPN the following when discussing Williamson’s shoe deal potential:

In my lifetime, I think it’s going to be the biggest bidding war ever done. . . . If Zion doesn’t change, I predict that he will be the first basketball athlete at 18 years old that the world is rooting for to become a billionaire. I say billionaire, very easily. He is going to have an opportunity to be the face of every company and every major corporation. He is the most marketable person I’ve seen, for a lot of different reasons.

The biggest bidding war ever? That’s saying a lot, especially when you consider the fact LeBron James got an $87 million deal coming out of high school.

If they’re going bigger than that, then I think it’s reasonable to assume Zion could hit $100 million in his first shoe does, which would be insane.

The part about Zion Williamson that we all know to be true is the fact that he’s insanely likable. Duke is universally hated, and I think this was the only year in my lifetime when casual fans were cheering for them.

The whole reason why was Zion. He the ultra-athletic forward just comes off as the type of guy that you want to see succeed.

It sounds like he’s not only going to succeed at the next level, but he might make some absurd cash along the way. I hope like hell he does.

The world could use a few more guys like him playing sports. Get that cash, Zion!
