The Washington Redskins are apparently no longer trying to get Arizona Cardinals quarterback Josh Rosen.
There had been a report that the two teams were nearing a deal for the young gunslinger, but that might all be over now. (RELATED: Washington Redskins Don’t Expect Alex Smith To Play In 2019)
According to Mike Garafolo, the team is “not actively chasing” a trade for Rosen.
On today’s @AroundTheNFL Twitter Show, @MikeGarafolo told us the Redskins are “not actively chasing” Josh Rosen. Garafolo just doesn’t sense the interest is serious and hazards a guess that Rosen will NOT be traded before the draft.

Well, this is a bit of an unexpected twist if the Redskins have really made the decision to no longer pursue the former UCLA star.
They need a quarterback, and this must mean that they’re looking towards the draft instead of trading for Rosen. I’m not sure I like that strategy very much.
Washington picks at 15. Dwayne Haskins and Kyler Murray will both almost certainly be off the board by then. That leaves them with maybe Drew Lock or Daniel Jones as the next best option. Would anybody really believe right now that either is better than Rosen?
I certainly wouldn’t.

It’ll be interesting to see what the Redskins do, but I think passing on Rosen if they can get him on favorable trade terms is a major mistake.
I don’t see drafting Lock or Jones (if that’s now the plan) as a better idea than just trading for Rosen. I don’t see it at all.
