President Trump is slated to speak today in Minnesota to tout his “America first” policy agenda in a crucial 2020 swing state. Don’t forget today is also every American’s favorite holiday: Tax Day.

Fortunately, this Tax Day will be far less painful thanks to our president. You’ll be keeping more money in your wallet and paying less out to the government. And that’s all thanks to the historic middle-class tax cut that was delivered by President Trump.

April 15 always seems to be around the corner.

The dreaded day where we as Americans fork over our “fair share” to the bureaucrats in Washington, D.C. As the primary breadwinner for my family, Tax Day is always particularly grueling. I work hard for my paycheck like every other American and deserve to keep what is rightfully mine.

Undoubtedly, promising to fix our broken tax system was one of the primary reasons that Donald Trump trounced Hillary Clinton in 2016. Then-candidate Trump recognized that the slogging economy needed a restart, and the best way to do that was through tax reform.

Working and middle-class families were paying too much. Small and large businesses were being outmatched by their international competitors due to America’s high corporate rate. Billions of hours a year were being wasted by families filling out complicated tax forms. The status quo was unacceptable.

But now those issues are a thing of the past thanks to President Trump.

President Trump and the Republican-controlled Congress crafted and ushered in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, the largest reform to our tax system in over 30 years. Middle-class families came out way ahead with nearly 80 percent of Americans receiving a tax benefit.

The bill nearly doubled the standard deduction, a significant bump for the vast majority of Americans who claim the standard deduction each year on their taxes. Better yet, it also scaled back the notoriously unpopular “death tax.” Why in the world is the government taxing people when they die anyway?

Families with children like me also saw serious benefits because the tax bill doubled the child tax credit up from $1,000 to $2,000. Nothing is more important than investing in the next generation of Americans and that’s exactly what doubling the child tax credit did.

Small business owners also came out way ahead. President Trump took the bold step of slashing the corporate tax rate from 35 percent to 21 percent, putting American companies on a much more even playing field with their international competitors. Lower corporate taxes mean fewer jobs shipped abroad.

As a direct result of the tax cuts, the economy is roaring ahead. Record low unemployment rates for African Americans, Hispanics, and women. Wages are skyrocketing. Jobless claims recently fell to their lowest number since October 1969. Thanks to President Trump’s tax cuts, American businesses and workers are thriving.

Still, it wouldn’t be surprising if you were unaware that President Trump cut your taxes. Since signing the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act into law, the mainstream media and their army of democratic pundits have attempted to confuse the public by falsely claiming President Trump’s bill actually raised people’s taxes.

And that seems to have worked.

A new poll out from NBC News and the Wall Street Journal noted how just 17 percent of respondents thought they got a tax cut under the new law while 28 percent thought they paid more. Members of the liberal media like Matt Yglesias even praised progressives for confusing the public about President Trump’s tax cuts, labeling it a “messaging success.”

But now you know the truth. No fake news can dispute the fact that President Trump and the Republican Congress cut taxes for nearly 80 percent of Americans. Don’t believe the media and its lies.

So, on this Tax Day don’t forget to be thankful for your tax cut. Be thankful that our economy is in strong hands. But most of all, be thankful that we have a champion in the White House who is fighting every day for the forgotten men and women of America.
