MSNBC Host Joe Scarborough said former Vice President Joe Biden needs to listen to workers about what issues matter, and not concern himself with the day-to-day social issues that reporters and activists on Twitter will try and force him to address, during a Thursday edition of “Morning Joe.”
“I want to underline, highlight, and put big exclamation marks on what Yamiche said,” Scarborough began, discussing Biden’s newly announced candidacy for president. “Telling Joe Biden and other candidates they need to ignore the blue checkmarks on Twitter, and what they say, what the Washington elites say, what the Manhattan elites say. He went on to say that those people aren’t the ones that determine who is president, and they aren’t the voters who determine who wins the Democratic primary.
“Working-class Americans,” Joe continued, identifying which group of voters will decide who wins. “We talked about white working-class Americans, we talked about black working-class Americans, it is actually the type of Americans that Joe Biden has always been able to appeal to, it’s good news for him.”
Biden officially announced his candidacy for the presidency early Thursday morning, taking the time to attack President Donald Trump for his response in the wake of the racial violence in Charlottesville.
“We are in the battle for the soul of this nation,” he said in the video announcement. “If we give Donald Trump eight years in the White House he will forever and fundamentally alter the character of this nation. And I cannot stand by and watch that happen.”
Biden has led the polls despite the fact he currently hasn’t even been in the race. He has also continued to do well after several Democratic women came forward to say he touched them inappropriately during campaign events.
