Three Democratic senators formally endorsed former Vice President Joe Biden within hours of his Thursday announcement.
Sens. Chris Coons, Bob Casey, and Doug Jones announced their support on Twitter.

“At this make-or-break moment for the middle class, our children and our workers, America needs Vice President Joe Biden to be its next President. Joe Biden has spent a lifetime fighting battles on behalf of hardworking Americans while ensuring America’s values and interests are represented abroad,” Casey wrote in his endorsement. “As both a U.S. Senator and our Vice President, he has delivered results for the middle class, kept our country safe and strengthened our standing in the world.”

Coons argued that Biden was the leader to bring the nation together.

“We are at a crucial moment in our history,” he said on Twitter. “We need leaders who will bring us together instead of tearing us apart, who will focus on the real issues facing American families, and who will restore the United States’ role in the world as a force for stability, freedom and human rights. Joe Biden is that leader, and I’m proud to endorse him for President of the United States.”
Jones reiterated the sentiment in his statement on Twitter.

Biden officially announced his candidacy for the presidency early Thursday morning, taking the time to attack President Donald Trump for his response in the wake of the racial violence in Charlottesville.
“We are in the battle for the soul of this nation,” he said in the video announcement. “If we give Donald Trump eight years in the White House he will forever and fundamentally alter the character of this nation. And I cannot stand by and watch that happen.”
Biden has led the polls despite the fact he currently hasn’t even been in the race. He has also continued to do well after several Democratic women came forward to say he touched them inappropriately during campaign events.
