Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres gifted Blake Shelton a pre-engagement gift Wednesday during his appearance on “The Ellen Show.”
DeGeneres gave Shelton a clock with a picture of him and his current girlfriend Gwen Stefani kissing, Entertainment Tonight reported.
She believes that if the clock got Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez engaged, it could also work for Shelton and Stefani.
“So, Mother’s Day is coming up, and I have something for you to give to her,” DeGeneres told Shelton before handing him the clock.
Shelton accepted the gift and said, “So you’re saying … there’s a chance she’s going to ask me to marry her? You’re saying with this clock?” (RELATED: Blake Shelton Gushes About Gwen Stefani And Working Together On Latest Song)
“You see how I flipped it around and put it on her?” Shelton jokingly added.
“Now that she knows that you’re waiting for her to ask — now that she’s seen this — she’ll ask you,” DeGeneres told Shelton, playing along. “I’ll call her tonight.”
Stefani and Shelton began dating in 2015 while they were both coaches on “The Voice.”
The country singer has made hints before that he wants to take the next step in the relationship. When asked if he thought Stefani was his forever person, Shelton told ET, “I would like to think so, come on. This is romance around here, of course!”
