New York Giants draft pick Corey Ballentine is back home after being shot.

According to ESPN’s Jordan Raanan Tuesday, the cornerback is out of the hospital after he was shot this past weekend in Kansas in the gluteal muscle. The Giants took him in the sixth round of the draft. The same shooting killed his former college teammate Dwane Simmons was killed. This is a tragic situation, but it’s good news for Ballentine’s family and friends that he’s out of the hospital after only a few days of treatment and recovery. There’s a solid chance he could be ready to play football sooner than later.

However, he’s likely going to have to spend some serious time dealing with the mental issues that are bound to be there after surviving a shooting that killed his teammate.

These past few days should have been the happiest of Ballentine’s young life. He accomplished a goal most football players can only ever dream of achieving.

Instead, he was taken to the hospital for several days after being shot. It’s just an awful turn of events and something you hate to see.

I wouldn’t be surprised at all if the Giants slow-walked his arrival to the team. At this point in time, it’s not necessary at all to rush him back.

According to The New York Post, there aren’t any suspects right now. Let’s hope the police do their thing and bring the person responsible for this tragic event to justice.
