Two College Students Found Dead, Police Investigating As Murder-Suicide

Two Texas State University students were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide Sunday at their shared home in San Marcos.

Matthew Pfluger and Connor Shannon, 24, were roommates and lived at the residence where a friend found them dead, KVUE reported.

Police responded to a call to investigate two deceased individuals. Upon arrival, police discovered one man dead from multiple gunshot wounds in the house and another man dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, according to authorities.

After investigating, police came to the conclusion that Pfluger shot Shannon multiple times before attempting to kill himself with a knife. Police have yet to release any other information regarding the incident, including motive.

This is reportedly the fourth homicide investigated in San Marcos since the beginning of 2019 and the second murder-suicide.

Texas State released a statement regarding the investigation Sunday.

“San Marcos Police Department notified Texas State University today that two currently enrolled students, Matthew Bond Pfluger and Connor Patrick Shannon, were found dead this morning in their off-campus housing. The investigation is ongoing and is being handled by the San Marcos Police Department,” the statement read.
