Ellen DeGeneres isn’t quite yet ready to walk away from hosting her own TV show, but said she knows the time is coming because “people get tired of people.”
“I hope I know when. [Maybe] when people kind of are tired of me, and I think I’ll sense that,” the 61-year-old talk-show host shared with Entertainment Tonight Thursday. (RELATED: Ellen DeGeneres Vs. Eric Trump–Who Ya Got?)

The comments come in light of the host finally getting back to stand-up after being away from the scene for 15 years with her recent special on Netflix titled, “Relatable.”
“It was just kind of suggested to me, and I was like, ‘Well, maybe so. Maybe that would be something to challenge me,'” DeGeneres shared. “I made the deal before I had anything to say. And then, once I made the deal, I panicked.”
“[I didn’t even write anything] until like a year and a half [after signing the deal],” she added.
DeGeneres continued, “I almost gave the money back twice. And then, all of a sudden, it all hit me. I was like, ‘Oh my God, I have something to say!’ And the name came to me and the whole thing.”

As previously reported, the TV host has talked about how she’s been thinking of retiring from her hit show in the near-future.
“There’s been times [sic] someone wants a picture, and while I’m doing a selfie, they’re like: ‘You’re not dancing!’ Of course I’m not dancing. I’m walking down the street,” DeGeneres explained.
“Being trapped in the world of being asked to dance and expected to be nice, it’’s real,” comic Tig Notaro, who co-directed her special said. “I’m sure there’s people who think she’s kidding. Or can’t have a bad day. But she does. It’s an interesting pickle she’s in.”
“The Ellen DeGeneres Show” hit the air September 2003 and has been on daytime for 16 seasons.
