Cleveland Browns running back Kareem Hunt sounds very aware of the situation he finds himself in with his new team.

Hunt was cut by the Kansas City Chiefs after a video was released by TMZ that appeared to show him striking and kicking a woman at a Cleveland residence building over a year ago. He was never charged with a crime, but the incident was too much for the Chiefs to hang onto him.

Shortly into the 2019 offseason, the Browns snatched up him up on a deal worth about $1 million. Hunt is under no illusion that he’s going to have it easy rebuilding his image.

“I told [John Dorsey] ‘You can trust me. I’ve got to earn his trust, and I’ve got to earn everybody’s trust in the whole organization. I’m not willing to mess that up,” Hunt told the media Wednesday, according to CBS Sports. (RELATED: Will A Team Sign NFL Player Cut After Alleged Violence Against A Woman? He also added that he hasn’t apologized to the woman in the video, but would “like apologize to her face” if given the opportunity.

It’ll be fascinating to see what kind of year Hunt has after he serves his eight-game suspension over the video above. He’s 100% correct he needs to earn the trust of everybody involved in the situation.

You can’t have a video get released appearing to show you striking a woman and expect an easy ride. It’s just not going to happen and it absolutely shouldn’t happen.

Hunt has a long road ahead of him, and he needs to keep his nose clean if he truly wants to completely rehab his image for the leagues and fans.

Personally, I thought the Browns signed him way too soon. He didn’t even sit out a full season for his actions. He sat out part of a season and then immediately found himself a new team.

I understand why it happened. I just don’t like it. Bad decisions should have consequences, and Hunt didn’t really face any.

We’ll see what happens in the 2019 season. Trust me, if he acts up again, his NFL career could be over in the snap of your fingers.
