Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury sounds ready to open up the playbook for rookie quarterback Kyler Murray.

Kingsbury recently said the following on the “Kingsbury Chronicle” podcast when discussing potential plans for the offense with Murray:

You want to have some RPO game, but you want him to have the option to pull it every now and then because he’s one of the most dynamic players on the field. We have to have a happy mix of both and make sure he is comfortable in doing that … He’s a playmaker and if you watch him throughout his career, that’s what he does. He can take a play that’s not open and turn it into a spectacular play on any given play.

This is music to my ears. This is exactly what I want to hear. The Cardinals didn’t draft the Oklahoma Heisman winner first overall to play conservative. (RELATED: Arizona Cardinals Select Kyler Murray First Overall In The NFL Draft)

The team went bold by hiring Kingsbury after Texas Tech fired him, and they went just as bold by selecting Murray with the top pick in the 2019 draft.

It’s time for Kingsbury and the Cardinals to just cut him loose. There’s some misconception that Murray kind of has to run to make plays.

That’s not true at all. He can sling it from the pocket without any problem at all, but he absolutely has the talent to run all over the field.

They should absolutely run a substantial amount of RPOs and just basic read options.

The Cardinals need to use all of Murray’s skills, and that means utilizing his absurd speed and ability to run. Kingsbury loves running a high octane offense, and he shouldn’t change a thing for Murray.

Ramp up the speed, let him air it out and let him run all over the place. Murray wasn’t selected first overall to play boring football.

They took him that high to set the league on fire. Now, it’s time to get the job done.
