Former Michigan quarterback Brandon Peters is headed to Illinois.
The former Wolverines passer, who transferred after Shea Patterson took over as the cemented starter for Jim Harbaugh, announced Tuesday night he would play his final two years for the Illini. This is a huge get for Illinois. Lovie Smith’s team is absolute garbage and pretty much a joke in the Big 10. However, adding a guy like Peters is huge for the offense.
He was a major recruit coming out of high school, and looked like the kind of guy who would likely lead the Wolverines for a long time.
That all changed when Shea Patterson showed up and took over immediately.

Now, he’ll likely get the starting nod immediately for Smith and the Illini. Will he make Illinois a real competitor in the conference?
Hell no, but he might make their offense at least respectable.
Put it this way, I’d rather play Illinois without Peters under center than him passing the ball for the guys in orange.
I don’t expect Illinois to do much this next season, but he is likely the most talented guy they’ve had in a very long time. At least it’s a step in the right direction for a team that has struggled so much the past several years.
