Sen. Elizabeth Warren argued during Wednesday night’s Democratic presidential debate that the U.S. should be creating green energy jobs.

The U.S. should be pushing for green energy rather than relying on fossil fuel production, Warren said, echoing her overall economic plan. She also wants to expand the amount of public lands dedicated to green energy production as part of her climate change agenda.

“There’s going to be a worldwide need for green technology — ways to clean up the air and clean up the water. And we can be the ones to provide that,” the Massachusetts senator said during the debate. (RELATED: Will Liz Warren’s Green Energy Build-Up Harm Wildlife? Experts Have Concerns)

WATCH:

Warren’s plan includes banning fossil fuel production on public lands along with a 10-fold increase in renewable energy production. That could mean millions of more acres based on land-use requirements for wind and solar energy, which worries bird enthusiasts.

Offshore wind is also supported by the Trump administration. Former Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke was bullish on offshore wind power, and the department raised $405 million in high bids leasing out coastal waters for wind turbines last winter.
