Meghan McCain, one of the only conservative voices on “The View,” reportedly feels “so exhausted and defeated” after two seasons on the show that she might be ready to walk away.

Sources close to the former Fox News co-host told The Daily beast in a piece published Wednesday that the daughter of the late Sen. John McCain is “feeling like a caged animal” and feels “so exhausted and defeated” following all the on-air clashes she’s had with liberal co-hosts like Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin that she’s just not sure if it’s worth it anymore. “It’s getting to the point where it’s not worth the emotional toll every week,” a McCain pal reportedly shared, who asked not to be identified. “If she doesn’t stay at ‘The View,’ she will find other work.”(RELATED: Meghan McCain Blasts Hollywood ‘Sex Strike’ For Telling Women To ‘Use Their Bodies As Bargaining Chips’)

“The View” co-host declined to comment for the piece. However, the show’s senior executive producer, Hilary Estey McLoughlin, said that no one wants McCain to leave and feels like “she will come back” after the summer break.

“We don’t want people to attack Meghan,” McLoughlin explained. “We’re happy to have Meghan there. I think she does want to be there. I think she wants to be on the show. She realizes it’s a very good platform for her and we love having her there. I feel like she will come back.”

“What happens with Meghan is that because she’s so passionate about what she’s talking about, and she feels very strongly that she’s carrying this mantle for the conservative perspective, and what she wants to talk about is so important to her, I think that’s the part that’s the most draining for her,” she added.

Following the report, ABC issued a statement disputing that McCain was leaving and reassuring people that everyone would be coming back for the 23rd season of the hit daytime show which kicks off in September.

“The co-hosts and The View have had an incredible season and we expect them all back for an epic year ahead,” a spokeswoman told Entertainment Weekly.
