A new statue of Melania Trump has the internet abuzz.

Built by professional pipe-layer and amateur chainsaw artist Ales “Maxi” Zupevc, the work was unveiled last Friday in Melania’s hometown of Sevnica, Slovenia. It’s unclear whether or not the work was meant to be an act of trolling, but in any case Zupevc deserves to be commended for his creativity: it’s a very unconventional portrayal of the First Lady.

Melania’s hulking body is frozen in place, her blue-green hand stump forever waving. Her eyes betray a sense of cosmic horror; her mouth twists into a demonic grin.

In short, the statue is terrifying.

But Undead Melania is far from the first work of public art to inspire fear and loathing in the hearts of onlookers. Every now and then a new statue is unveiled that insults its would-be likeness. From soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo to Catholic saint Pope John Paul II, all kinds of famous individuals have been representationally mangled in recent years.

Let’s take a look at some crimes against art! Which one of these statues do you find least appealing?
