Cincinnati Bengals star receiver A.J. Green won’t be back on a football field anytime soon.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Sunday, Green will miss six to eight weeks with torn ligaments he suffered during practice. (RELATED: July Is The Final Month Of 2019 Without College Football)

This is really bad news for Green. He wants a new deal with the team, but now he’s going to miss all of camp and possibly the start of the season.

It’s pretty hard to convince a team to pay you a bunch of money if you’re on the wrong side of 30 and not even healthy.

The age of 30 is traditionally when receivers fall off a playing cliff and their careers come to a quick end. I’m not saying that’s going to happen with Green.

I’m not saying that at all, but it’s not a great situation to have torn ligaments heading into a season while looking for a new deal.

It’s not a great situation at all.

Also, the Bengals better hope like hell Green is ready to go sooner than later. He’s their best receiving option, and Andy Dalton needs all the help he can get.

Hopefully, he heals up and gets paid. You never like to see a guy get hurt and lose out on a serious amount of cash.
