Miami QB Jarren Williams Beats Out Martell, Perry For Starting Job

Miami announced its starting quarterback Monday, and it was not who most expected.

Former Ohio State transfer Tate Martell and returning starter N’Kosi Perry were beat out by redshirt freshman, Jarren Williams, who will lead the Hurricanes into battle as QB later this month in Orlando when they take on the Florida Gators. This is stunning news. Most college football fans expected Martell to easily take the reins once he arrived on campus, but struggles throughout the spring proved to be a setback for the Ohio State transfer’s promising career. Before Georgia quarterback Justin Fields transferred to Columbus, Martell was expected to enter the season as the starting quarterback for a top five Ohio State team. Now, he’s the back-up for an un-ranked Miami team.
