The moves would reduce crime and stop dirty needles being left in school playgrounds, Dr Peter Carter, the General Secretary of the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) said.
His comments come as the idea of prescribing heroin on the NHS was discussed at the union’s annual conference in Bournemouth.
