Bitter Feminists Blame White Women For Wendy Davis’ Loss

Perhaps the most embarrassing part of Texas Democratic gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis’ huge loss to Republican Greg Abbott was that despite Davis being heralded as an icon for feminism and women’s rights, Davis actually lost the female vote by five points. But don’t worry, liberal bloggers have found the culprit for the loss: white women.

The pro-abortion blog RH Reality Check identified this with an op-ed entitled “White Women: Let’s Get Our Sh*t Together”. According to blogger Andrea Grimes, it was “married white women” who “failed Wendy Davis—and ourselves, and our families, and Texas families.” (RELATED: Allen West: After Midterms, ‘Identity Politics Era’ Is Over)

“You’ll hear that Greg Abbott ‘carried’ women voters in Texas,” she snipes. “Anyone who says that is also saying this: that Black women and Latinas are not ‘women,’ and that carrying white women is enough to make the blanket statement that Abbott carried all women.”

“White women chose Greg Abbott Tuesday night. We did not choose empathy. Texas has been red for two decades. We do not choose empathy. We choose the fact that our children will always have access to education, that our daughters will always be able to fly to California or New York for abortion care, that our mothers will always be able to get that crucial Pap smear.” [Obnoxious italicization in original]

Salon, being Salon, got in on the game with a piece by one Jenny Kutner, entitled, “White women didn’t just fail Wendy Davis — they failed the rest of Texas, too“. “…94 percent of black women and 61 percent of Latinas voted for her. Only 32 percent of white women did. That’s certainly not enough women to say that Abbott won the whole gender (though that’s a ludicrous statement in the first place). It seems to be enough, though, to result in the erasure of votes from women of color…” (RELATED: Salon Warns Of ‘White Menaces To Society’)

Meanwhile, RedState’s Breeanne Howe has an excellent round-up of “feminists” blaming white women on Twitter the day after the election. One such tweet, reading, “Goddammit, white women in Texas. Damn it,” received an enthusiastic 611 retweets and 432 favorites.

Among the other enlightened tweets:

  • “White women in Texas obviously prefer subservient existence 2 freedom and liberty”
  • “What do u expect from bunch of #StepfordWives. That’s what most #Texas #GOP women are. Truth hurts sometimes.”
  • “Because White women in Texas are taught that a women’s role is barefoot and pregnant over a stove from the time they’re born.”
